I passed the 70-305 exam at TechEd!

I attended TechEd on the Gold Coast last week, and took advantage of a free offer by Pearson VUE to take a free certification exam. I studied really hard (figuring that even if I failed, then at least I had experienced an exam without it costing me anything).

Well the study paid off, as I passed "Developing and Implementing Web Applications with Microsoft® Visual Basic® .NET and Microsoft® Visual Studio® .NET" with an excellent result - 962!

I'm going to see if I can have a go at 70-310 before the end of the year, and maybe complete the MCAD or MCSD next year.

Well done! That's great. I took the same approach, but probably didn't study so much, and didn't get quite as high a mark. :)

You can read about it at http://robfarley.blogspot.com (if you're at all interested)

Thanks Rob,
and it was "Transcender" that you mentioned you'd used?

I'll look into that for future exams once I've done the XML one.. I'm also curious to see how the whole certification stuff is going to change (as mentioned by Jeremy at the last SQL User Group meeting).

I'll keep an eye on your blog too!

I used Transcender in the past, but not this time. This time, I used the examcram series from Que for the two I studied for. Found they weren't too bad. But it's really hard to tell if you know the stuff when you actually get to the exam or not. I did the extra two without studying, just kinda figuring I'd see how I went. Didn't score great, but they were passes, and that's enough for me. It was nice to know I could pass them without studying.

For info on the new certification, check out: http://mcpmag.com/news/article.asp?EditorialsID=821
